"Mom, why do we have jambalaya on Super Tuesday?"
"We don't have jamabalaya because it's Super Tuesday. We have it because it's Fat Tuesday.
This year it just happens that Fat Tuesday is the same day as Super Tuesday."
Big E is so interested this year in the election process, how it works, who the candidates are and what the results are. He is also studying the American government and its branches in his Social Studies class. It's been really fun to talk to him about how our government works, how the election process works, what Motorcycle Guy's and my values are for choosing a candidate and why. I've also learned/re-learned a thing or two while helping him with the government branches homework.
Our house is abuzz today with Fat Tuesday and our 14th Wedding Anniversary. It's very fitting that our Anniversary and Fat Tuesday fall on the same day. Our first trip together was to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. We have had jambalaya for dinner on Fat Tuesday pretty much every year since. We even decorated Big E's nursery in Mardi Gras colors of purple, gold and green. Today is a lot warmer and wetter than the day we got married. It was very cold on our wedding day and shortly after we arrived in Jamaica we heard Ohio had been hit with an ice storm. It didn't get any better here to the east coast through that week and we had a little trouble getting home because of airport delays and cancelations. Unfortunately, 14 years ago there were not digitial photos and I don't have a scanner or I would post a picture of us on our wedding day.
That's all I have for today, except to say "GO BARACK!"
